Ernan McMullin ist ein Philosoph und Wissenschaftstheoretiker.

Nach dem Studium der Physik am Maynooth College, Irland, Theologie, und Stationen am Dublin Institute für Advanced Studies, promoviert er im Jahre 1954 über das The quantum principle of uncertainty. Seit 1954 tätig an dem Department of Philosophy, University of Notre Dame, USA, seit 1967 dort als Professor für Wissenschaftsgeschichte und Wissenschaftstheorie, Wissenschaft und Religion und seit 1994 emeritiert .
